The Maldives
The Maldives is a country from Southern Asia located in the indian ocean. It is made up of 1,190 coral island grouped together in a double chain of 26 atolls over 90,000 kilometers. The atolls are situated on top of a submarine ridge that is 960 kilometers long. Near the southern end of this coral barricade there are two open passages that permit safe travels for ships through the territorial waters of The Maldives. For administration the Maldives government made these atolls into 19 administrative divisions.
The Maldives could possibly be the next Atlantis. Due to global warming water levels are rising and the low Island country of Maldives is actually sinking. Some parts of The Maldives have already disappeared. The President of The Maldives, Abdulla Yameen, is doing everything he can to make other countries globally aware and stop global warming.
The Maldives climate is ruled by two monsoon seasons. Through December and march there is a dry monsoon and through May and November there is a dry monsoon. During the wet monsoon winds are much stronger and there is heavy rain. The wet monsoon season makes life very hard for the Maldivian people. The strong winds and heavy rains beat down on their houses and sometimes destroy them.
Maldivian cuisine has three main ingredients: fish, coconuts, and starches. Tuna is used in many Maldivian dishes. It is used to curry, gulha, maroshi, kulhi bokiba, kavaabu, bajiya, and fatafolhi. Coconuts are grated then squeezed or the oil is used to deep fry some dishes.
