What are some Traditions in Bangladesh?
There are many different traditions in the country of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh there are National Holidays, New Year celebrations, and Religious Holidays. National Holidays in Bangladesh include Shaheed Dibosh, Bangladesh independence day, and Victory Day. Shaheed Dibosh is the day of celebration when people celebrate their national language,Bengladi. Bangladesh Independence Day is on March 26th. The country of Bangladesh was at war with Pakistan for nine months and this is the day Bangladesh claimed independence. Victory Day is on December 6th. After nine months of the war with Pakistan, Pakistan surrendered. Bengali New Year is a very big New Year holiday. The Bangladesh calendar is based on Emperor Akbar. The calendar had six seasons which revolve around Bangladesh’s agriculture. Pahela Falgoon is another tradition when people wear colorful dresses, share gifts, and celebrate with their friends. Pahela Falggon is the first day of spring. In Bangladesh religion is very important. About 85% of Bangladesh are Muslim. Muslim holidays include EidulFitr and EidulAzha. EidulFitr is the celebration of the ending day of fasting. EidulAzha is a celebration of sacrifice. Hindu holidays include Janmastami which is a ten day festival of the birth of Rama. Buddhist Holidays include Buddho Purnima which is the birth and enlightment of their leader, the buddah. Christian holidays include Christmas which is the celebration of their savior, Jesus Christ.
